How to choose the right engineering branch?

Hi Collegelib Engineers!
I was very confused of choosing my engineering branch at the time of joining, I have gone through many advices before selecting Electrical Engineering branch. I think this is the scenario for most of the students while choosing an engineering branch for study.

Let us share our opinions for the becoming engineers, things to consider before choosing the branch of study.
Well, I guess you should follow your heart, disciplines such as engineering are things that one is hardly ever forced to do, ask any well established engineer if he is doing what he practicing now by accident, and 99% of them will tell you that they always wanted to be an engineer from a very tender age. So follow your heart and you will be the best engineer out there, but if you go for a certain discipline just for the money or fame, you wouldn't get far :).
I actually first went to school for fashion design and realized that I wanted to continue my education with textile engineering. So, I am currently majoring in materials science and engineering, which is essentially a branch of chemical engineering. However, I currently intern as a CAD Technician and I mainly work with electrical and mechanical designs. It's funny how life does that to you. I think it's important to do research before declaring a major so you know what you like and don't like. It just makes the process easier.
