Cellular Lightweight Concrete – Seminar Abstract

Cellular Lightweight concrete blocks are made of lightweight cellular concrete. Cellular lightweight concrete is a new type of concrete block invented in the 1960s by researchers at MIT. The cells in CLC blocks are made out of cement, fly ash and organic material such as foam or sawdust. These three ingredients make up the mass of the block and give it its unique properties. Cellular lightweight blocks can be used in many applications where traditional concrete blocks are currently being used including: fencing, roadways, pools, retaining walls and more!

Cellular Lightweight concrete blocks are made of Cellular Lightweight concrete

Cellular Lightweight concrete blocks are made of lightweight cellular concrete. They are made by mixing cement, fly ash and foaming agent together in a mixer. There are two ways to make these blocks:

  • Method 1 – Mix the ingredients as an admixture into the cement batch.
  • Method 2 – Mix all ingredients directly into the cement batch (without an admixture).

Types of CLC block

CLC blocks are made of cement, fly ash and foaming agent. It is lightweight concrete that can be used in construction projects.

It is also known as foam concrete because when mixed with water, a foam layer forms on top of the mixture so that it looks like toothpaste is squeezed out of a tube.

Fly ash based CLC blocks

Fly ash is a by-product of coal fired power plants. It’s used in concrete to make it lighter, which means you’ll need less cement for your project. This material is cheaper than cement and can be used as an alternative to it for some applications.

Cement comes in two main types: Portland cement (also known as portlandite) and hydraulic lime (also known as hydraulic lime stone or hydrated calcium carbonate). Portlandite consists of three main parts: sand, limestone, and clay; while hydraulic lime consists of three components: calcined magnesia; fly ash from coal burning power plants; and water into which these ingredients are mixed together at high temperatures until they form a doughnut shape called slurry—or “concrete.”

Foam Concrete blocks

  • Foam concrete blocks are used in construction of houses, buildings, and bridges.
  • The density of foam concrete blocks is 300 kg/m3.
  • Foam concrete blocks are made by mixing cement, fly ash, and water into a mixture that has been allowed to harden overnight.

Advantages of CLC Blocks

A typical concrete block has a density of about 2,800 kg/m3 (1.10 kilograms per cubic meter). CLC blocks are made with high-performance materials that have a density of less than 2,600 kg/m3 (1.00 kilograms per cubic meter).

These lighter blocks save on the weight of your project and can help reduce its overall cost by reducing the amount of concrete required. This means you’ll need less rebar in your foundation wall or flooring system!

Disadvantages of CLC Blocks

  • CRC Blocks are not suitable for all types of construction work.
  • CRC Blocks are not suitable for high strength requirements.
  • CRC Blocks are not suitable for high compressive strength requirements (such as those required in reinforced concrete structures).
  • CRC Blocks are not suitable for high load bearing requirements (such as those required in buildings or bridges).

Cellular Lightweight concrete blocks are made of cement, fly ash, and foaming agent.

Cellular Lightweight concrete blocks are made of cement, fly ash and foaming agent. These three ingredients are mixed together to form a lightweight concrete block with high strength. The mixture is poured into molds where it hardens into a solid object that can be used for building construction purposes.

The process starts with grinding up raw materials like limestone and sand into fine powder before adding water and other additives to make them mix properly with each other when placed in a mold cavity designed specifically for this purpose (see diagram below).

Conclusion

CLC blocks are a great alternative to traditional concrete. They have many benefits over regular concrete, including being lighter weight and more environmentally friendly. CLC blocks also allow you to create something unique with your property by using different types of materials in each block.
