An introduction to Magic Square Algorithm

A magic square is a unique way of arranging numbers in a square. In a magic square, all numbers in each row and each column give the same number when added. Also, the addition of numbers in backward and forward diagonal gives the same number. This is the characteristic property of magic square. The magic square can have any size except 2x2. The common sum of a magic square is known as magic sum. If n is the number of columns and rows in the magic square, then the magic sum is given by this formula: n (n^2 + 1) /2. Thus, total number of elements in a magic square are n^2.

There are various methods to construct magic squares based on its order. To construct magic square of odd order, you use a method given by de la Loubere. This is also known as Siamese method. To get a magic square of even rows, you must use medjig method. You can also use genetic algorithms to construct magic squares. Magic squares are important because they help in representing certain mathematical situations accurately. Magic square has great importance in astrology. Magic square has its origin and use in history. Persia, India and Europe are the places where magic square has been used since ancient times.
