Wear Debris Analysis Seminar report, abstract

Wear Debris Analysis, an introduction
You can monitor the health of your machines. Wear debris analysis is in great demand now days. Industrial plant goes on deteriorating by wear. It is easy to determine the extent of deterioration by keeping an eye on the amount of wear. You also need to keep an eye on the mechanism wear. In earlier days, soap analysis of the used oil was done to measure the extent of deterioration. These techniques were inefficient as the size of the particles increases. Wear debris analysis is very much efficient. It overcomes the limitation of the particle size. It also gives additional information such as the mechanism, content of contaminants and location of wear.

The principle behind the wear debris analysis is simple and easy. An oil sample is taken. A solvent is mixed with the oil sample in a clean beaker. We took a sample from the beaker which is passed through the membrane. Magnetic separation technique can also be used to separate solids. Debris is analyzed under a microscope. We look for certain parameters such as average particle size, type of particle and maximum size of particle. These parameters are diagnosed using the software. We get our desired result ranging from 1 to 5. Here 1 means a healthy machine and 5 mean machines filled with failure.

We prepared and published this seminar abstract for final year engineering students seminar research. You should do your own research additional to this information before presenting your seminar.
