Soft Story In Building Seminar Abstract, Report

An Introduction to Soft Story In Building
We have recently seen some major earthquakes across the world. Most of the civil structures whether it a residential building or commercial building all of them are usually very high rise multi story buildings. In the case of an earthquake these structures are highly prone to a stern damage and critical loss of life. We must design suitable architectures which ensure our safety in the worst possible natural disasters.

The recent development is a soft story building:
A soft story building is a type multi story structure. In this structure there are one or more floors with windows. The doors of the soft story building are a bit wide. These structures are mostly designed with pillars. In a soft story building you can find large open spaces.

Usually conventional multi story structures use supporting walls for increased stability. A typical soft story building is a high-rise commercial building of three or added story usually positioned over a ground level with huge openings. These huge openings are usually created for activities such as a public vehicle parking garage or a storage place usually for keeping goods.

Soft story building collapses easily!
The soft story structures easily collapse because of insufficient load bearing strength at the ground level. Soft story buildings are susceptible to crumple in a modest or severe earthquake. This phenomenon is also known as soft story collapse.
