Skunkworks project, a radical innovation project!

An introduction to Skunkworks project
Skunkworks project is a project developed by a group of people. These people are loosely structured and work for the sake of radical innovation. The people involved work on the basis of R&D to provide a good resource for the completion of the project undertaken. These projects are also undertaken and completed in secrecy. Examples of such works are: the Google X Lab project and the group formed by Steve Jobs to develop Macintosh computer. The secrecy regarding the work is maintained to not let people outside the organization learn about the developments of the project.

Usually the work involves manufacturing and development of products which are the mainline products of that company. For this purpose, people from various parts of the organizations are selected according to their capabilities. These may be working together for the first time. They are also chosen from various offices of the organization. This group is then given high precedence over all the other people for the time being due to the nature and importance of their work. All their requirements related to work are met and they are provided with the best resources possible. There may even be a contract that they are made to sign to maintain secrecy and not reveal any sort of information regarding their work.
