Ozone Water Treatment Seminar Abstract, Report

An Introduction to Ozone Water Treatment
Ozone is a compound which is composed of 3 oxygen atoms linked together. Ozone is naturally found in the atmosphere. Ozone can be used to purify water. When ozone reacts with water, it reacts with the impurities in water and leads to oxidized compounds. Thus it separates water from its impurities. Use of ozone to purify water has been tried for many years now and is considered to be a good replacement to traditional methods. In order to purify water using ozone, there must be a mechanism to generate ozone. This is known as ozone generator. In this mechanism, ozonation takes place. In this process, High intensity ultraviolet light is used.

Compressed air is sent inside the ozone chamber. Using this mechanism, oxygen in the compressed air is converted into ozone. Thus new ozone molecules are made available for the purification purpose. Ozone-saturated bubbles come in contact with water to be purified. This happens in the water purification tank. Various such devices are available which perform this process. Apart from impurities, this process also removes bacteria from water. This process is not capable of cleaning all the impurities in water. There may be some other types of impurities in water which do not react with oxygen and get removed from water.
