Hypervisor (Virtual machine)
The Hypervisor is an advanced concept in information technology. It is basically a software that is responsible for creating and executing virtual machines on a device. It is also known by the name of virtual machine monitor (VMM). The device running this software is known as a host machine. Virtual machines are an emulation of the actual device. They operate just like the actual device and carry out all the functions.
Types Of Hypervisors And Benefits
There are two major types of Hypervisors: Type1 and Type 2. In type 1 hypervisor, the virtual machines run directly on the host hardware. They manage the guest operating systems. They are also known by the name of bare metal hypervisor. Examples of this type of hypervisor include Oracle VM Server, XenServer and so on. The second type of hypervisor abstracts the guest operating system from the host operating system. There have been many other hypervisors, which have been different from these two types mentioned above. With the recent advancements in this field, the difference between these two types of reducing. Linux servers and systems are the best examples of computer operating systems which have indulged in this technology. This mechanism of virtual machines helps in many places. It helps in making the system more powerful without actually increasing the hardware. This is an affordable and effective way of getting more computing and storage power.
