Future Cars seminar report, abstract

Future Cars, an introduction
Car manufacturers and Designers are at a crossroad. On one hand, is the demand for cars with higher mileage and lower emissions. On the other hand, is the demand for cleaner and sharper designs. Added to these two demands, is the ever present demand for safer and more family oriented cars. Every car manufacturer has been busy launching various concepts.

Today, we will look at some technologies that should be a part of the car of the future.
  • Cars Powered By The Sun - Solar power is making its presence felt around the world. However, when it comes to the car, Solar power is almost non-existent. Barring one or two manufacturers, this technology is not widely used.
  • Kinetic Energy Recovery System - A technology, that is being used heavily in the Formula One racing series is KERS. Basically, every time the driver employs his brakes, the energy released is stored and then recycled back to the engine, increasing the engines output.
  • Better Ways To Use Alternative Fuels - Cars have been guzzling fossil fuels for four decades. The need of the hour is to develop systems, which can run on alternative fuels , without the need of petrol or diesel power.
  • Engines Without Camshafts - These are a crucial part of any engine. Engines built without the camshaft , will be smaller, have more power and will have lower emissions.
