Cellular lightweight concrete. Seminar abstract, report

Cellular lightweight concrete (Porous Cement) an introduction
Cellular lightweight concrete is also known as porous concrete. Cellular light weight concrete Developed in the mid-1920s by the Swedish architect and scientist Johan Axel Eriksson is a lightweight precast building material. It provides multiple benefits like insulation from heat and electricity, resistance towards fire. Cellular concrete is also known as Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC). Cellular concrete can be refined as thermally insulating concrete based material used for internal and external construction. Adding to the list of advantages it provides is its quick and easy installation. This material can be sanded and cut into required shapes by using carbon-steel tools. The regular mortar can be used, But cellular concrete materials use thin bed mortar with a thickness of 0.125 inches.

The improved thermal efficiency will reduce wastage of electricity spent in heating or cooling of the house. The light weight will save transportation and labor costs.   Light weight also gives advantage during seismic activity. The easy workability of the material will save its wastage while construction. The biggest advantage of cellular concrete comes from its eco-friendly production. Its produced using natural aggregates like sand, quartz, lime, water and trace elements of aluminium. Production of cellular cement is growing rapidly in Asian countries like China and India, while it has slowed down in Europe, mainly due to slow growth and recession.
